Indonesia Mini Expo and 79th National Day Celebration: A Gathering of Dignitaries in Abuja

On the 28th and 29th of September 2024, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia hosted a remarkable two-day event at the Indonesian Ambassador’s residence in Maitama, Abuja. The occasion celebrated the 79th National Day of the Republic of Indonesia, along with a mini expo highlighting the flourishing trade and diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Nigeria.
The event commenced with opening remarks by the Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency AVM Dr. H. Usra H. Harahap MSi (Ret), who welcomed dignitaries and guests, underscoring the strong bilateral relationship between both nations. Following his speech, Ambassador Misturat Abdurrahman, Director of Asia and Pacific Affairs, representing the Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yussuf Tuggar, delivered a message on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria. The speeches highlighted the mutual commitment to deepening economic, cultural, and diplomatic ties.
The members of the diplomatic community were in full attendance, with several ambassadors and heads of missions from various embassies represented. Their presence further emphasized the international significance of the event. The private sector was well-represented, with numerous CEOs of multinational corporations in attendance.
Among the notable figures present were Ms. Shuhdah Ahmed Special Assistant on Project Support Office of the Vice President, the former Nigerian Ambassador to Indonesia, Ambassador Usman Ari Ogah, Mr. Ishmael Adegorioye Balogun, President of the Nigeria-Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and several other distinguished personalities from both the public and private sectors including but not limited to Capt. Georgia Enrico Del Celo, CEO of Primenext Logistics, and Mr. Mobolaji Durodola, CEO of Quiant Energy. Also in attendance was Adaora Chukwu, Commissioner for Trade, Investment, and Industry, representing the Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah and Mr. Fahmi Aris Innayah, Minister Counselor at the Embassy of Indonesia in Abuja.
Their involvement underscored the growing opportunities for collaboration between businesses in both nations, particularly in trade, logistics, and energy sectors.
The mini expo served as a platform for Indonesian and Nigerian businesses to connect, showcasing products ranging from Indonesian textiles and crafts to technological innovations. The cultural performances and displays of Indonesian cuisine provided guests with an immersive experience, highlighting the rich traditions of the Southeast Asian nation.
The two-day celebration culminated in a memorable gathering that fostered dialogue on strengthening relations between Indonesia and Nigeria, leaving a lasting impact on all who attended.
