NICCI Joins West African Delegations at Welcoming Reception Ahead of Trade Expo Indonesia 2026
The Nigerian–Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI) was invited by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Abuja to participate in a Welcoming Reception for West African Delegations ahead of the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI 2026).
Held on 14 October 2026 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), BSD City, Tangerang, the reception brought attention to the growing importance of trade and investment cooperation between Indonesia and West African countries.
The reception was hosted by the Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E. Bambang Suharto, who welcomed delegates and encouraged them to explore Indonesia’s business environment, establish commercial relationships, and pursue mutually beneficial investment opportunities.
According to media reports, the Ambassador disclosed that 101 West African participants had arrived for TEI 2026, with memoranda of understanding valued at approximately US$10 million reportedly signed ahead of the exhibition’s official opening. These early developments highlighted the potential for deeper commercial engagement between both regions.
For NICCI, the engagement aligns with the Chamber’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria–Indonesia economic relations, facilitating business connections, promoting investment opportunities, and supporting Nigerian businesses seeking access to international markets.
The reception provided an important starting point for the wider programme of business engagement at Trade Expo Indonesia 2026, reinforcing the value of diplomatic relations and private-sector collaboration in building sustainable cross-border partnerships.

NICCI President Calls for Stronger Nigeria–Indonesia Trade and Investment Partnerships at TEI 2026
The President of the Nigerian–Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI), Mr. Ishmael A. Balogun, has called for stronger trade and investment partnerships between Nigeria and Indonesia at the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI 2026).
Speaking at the Business Forum on 16 October 2026 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE BSD), Tangerang, he delivered a presentation titled “Bridging Indonesian and Nigerian Businesses: Strengthening Partnership for Trade and Investment.”
Mr. Balogun highlighted opportunities for collaboration in oil and gas, agriculture, manufacturing, renewable energy, infrastructure, digital services and consumer goods. He emphasised the need to move beyond discussions towards practical outcomes, including joint ventures, investment commitments, technology partnerships and sustainable commercial relationships.
He also stressed the importance of reliable market information, targeted business-to-business engagements and effective follow-up to address market-entry challenges and turn identified opportunities into measurable results.
Reaffirming NICCI’s commitment to bilateral economic cooperation, Mr. Balogun encouraged stakeholders to build lasting business relationships that promote industrial development, job creation and shared prosperity.
