In a strategic meeting held at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, His Excellency, Ambassador Dr. Usra Hendra Harahap, the Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, and the Honorable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, discussed enhancing cooperation between Nigeria and Indonesia. The discussions focused on the upcoming Nigerian-Indonesian Investment and Trade Forum (NIITF) 2024, scheduled for June 3rd at the Abuja Continental Hotel.

The Nigerian-Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI), the driving force behind the NIITF, has consistently promoted robust economic ties between the two nations. With the theme “Indonesia Meets Nigeria: An Opportunity for Expansion of Bilateral Investment and Trade,” the 2024 forum aims to solidify Nigeria’s position as Africa’s premier investment destination.

NICCI has reported that trade between Nigeria and Indonesia was $4.7b in 2022 as compared to $2.7b in 2021. This leap highlights Nigeria’s growing significance in global trade and investment.

NICCI’s President, Mr. Ishmael Adegorioye Balogun, emphasized that about 70 Indonesian companies are expected to participate in the forum, exploring opportunities across various sectors including agriculture, renewable energy, power generation, manufacturing, mining, transportation, infrastructure development, oil and gas, aviation, digital economy, and health.

The NIITF 2024 promises to be a pivotal event, providing a platform for high-level discussions and networking opportunities. Key topics will include foreign direct investments, joint ventures, public-private partnerships, and global networking opportunities. NICCI’s continuous efforts in organizing trade forums, fairs, and bilateral symposiums have significantly contributed to enhancing Nigeria’s economic landscape, fostering interactions and negotiations that bolster bilateral trade and investment balances.

As a testament to the forum’s importance, NICCI expects the attendance of notable guests such as executive governors of several states, Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Vice-Minister of Foreign affairs of Indonesia with a business delegation from Indonesia, Chief executives of multinationals and much more. presence of these dignitaries from Nigeria and Indonesia underscores the event’s significance in driving economic growth and fostering international partnerships.

The NIITF 2024 is set to enhance Nigeria’s global image as a No. 1 investment destination in Africa by creating a prosperous and interconnected future for both nations.
